1.1.02

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING

1.1.1

The Minutes of the last meeting were approved and signed by the Chairman.

2.1.02

RACE Technical Panel Report (RTP)

PVK/SL

2.1.1

SL circulated a summary of the Race Manages Meeting, 17/03/2002, via the e-mail on Monday, 18/03/2002. The ERSA Committee adopted all the suggestion of changes to the rules, which were decided on at the Race Managers Meeting.

2.1.2

ERSA Summer League Race Dates have now been published. However, it was pointed out that 3 Clubs/Slopes are currently not affiliated to ESC. If those Clubs/Slopes are not affiliated to ESC by the time ‘their’ race is due, this race will have to be cancelled.

2.1.3

Race Entry Fee for the races will be £ 9.00 per person this year of which £ 6.00 will be paid to the organizing slope/club and £ 3.00 to will go to ERSA. This makes ERSA still the cheapest Region (L&SERSA - £ 13.50 and Southern Region - £ 10.00) The additional income will help to sponsor the Workshops and Courses ERSA will offer to it’s members in 2002.

2.1.4

Wearing of helmets at ERSA races:

The RTP has requested to put to the ERSA AGM the motion that from 2003 all participants should wear a helmet.

JA

2.1.5

Race at the Snow Zone:

After a discussion it was decided that the RTP should investigate the possibility of holding a race at the Snow Zone.

PVK

2.1.6

Winter Races:

Committee members are asked to find out if their Club/Slope would be interested to take part in a Winter League Series, starting with November 2002

ALL

2.1.7

It was pointed out that only the ERSA Club for which a racer is registered with the ESC would be taken into account when racing at ERSA races. If athletes want to change their Club (example: Suffolk and Vikings) they will have to arrange this with the ESC.

All Clubs

2.1.9

Race Managers had asked for having the Summer League seeded. SL agreed to become the Regional Seeder.

SL

3.1.02

Revenue Account and Balance Sheets

Written Report by HW is available below by clicking links.

3.1.1

Income & Expenditure Account ended 31/12/2001 - Actual figures are better than budgeted

3.1.4

2001/2002 Budget Commentary

Balance Sheet as at 31 December 2001

.

Budget Assumption to 31 March 2003

Trophies:

JW was given the OK to get all broken trophies repaired and to look out for suitable replacement trophies. She will also look into the possibilities to get some companies to sponsor the Region by supplying a trophy.

JW

ERSA organised Workshops:

ERSA will sponsor again those Workshops. Participant fee is set to £ 5.00 per person, per workshop.

RH

ERSA Summer Training Camp:

Will not be sponsored by ERSA this year. However, if there is a shortfall (in the case of less participants than budgeted), ERSA will cover the cost.

RH

4.1.02

ERSA Squad.

Report by PVK

4.1.1

From now on racers of any age group will be looked at when selection is made. That means, any athlete within the requested criteria – 85 seed points for the males racers and 75 seed points for the female racers – will be included in the selection of the ERSA Squad. (This applies to the Main Squad as well as the Development Squad.)

5.1.02

ERSA Summer Training Camp,

Report by RH

5.1.1

Camp Dates:

27 July – 3 August 2002 with the possibility of an extension for an additional week (3 – 10 August 2002). However, the official ERSA week is from 27 July – 3 August 2002.

5.1.2

Venue:

Hintertux Glacier with the accommodation in Lanersbach.

5.1.3

Cost:

The Cost for the Camp was circulated by e-mail to ERSA Committee Members and Representatives of the various ERSA Clubs by RH. The Cost includes the half- board accommodation (breakfast and evening meal), liftpass, some sport activities, administration and a contribution for the cost of a Head Trainer.

The clubs will arrange their own transport from and to the resort (travel out by cars or Minibus or fly and hire transport at the airport) and find their own Club Trainer.

If a Club needs more information they are asked to contact RH – Tel.: 01923 400 393, e-mail: ros.humphrey@ntlworld.com.

Any money left over will be returned to the Clubs after the Camp.

5.1.4

Club Trainers

It is suggested that a Club Trainer should not have more than 6 Trainees and if the racers are very young, the ratio should be less. Therefore, if a Club cannot find enough participants, it will be possible to make up groups within the Clubs. If a Club experiences such a problem, they are asked to contact RH and help where possible will be provided.

5.1.5

Adult Group

Some Clubs have asked to have a combined training group for adults who either are parents of racers on the camp or just want to come as trainees. If enough interest is shown, ERSA will find a Trainer for such a group.

5.1.6

The Camp is open to all abilities of all age groups.

5.1.7

All Clubs are asked to let RH know as soon as possible how many beds they will probably need. It is aimed to take over the whole hotel again. Accommodation is in 2 and 3-bedded rooms. Some single rooms are available.

All Clubs

5.1.8

Head Trainer

After an extensive discussion, RTP decided to contact Alan Humphrey to act again as the Head Coach.

PVK

5.1.9

Insurance

ERSA could arrange an insurance cover for race training week(s) for all participants via the Worldwide Ski & Snowboarding Insurance Company. CE has done some enquiries into this – group fee will be approx. £ 15.00 for 7 days. Clubs are asked to indicate as soon as possible if their participants would be interested in such an arrangement.

All Clubs

5.1.10

Sweat Shirt

It was decided to order a Sweat Shirt for all participating. The cost for these has not been calculated in the fee. However, everybody felt that it was a good idea and participants will be able to buy those Sweat Shirts at cost.

6.1.02

ESC matters

6.1.1

ESC Council meeting - 16th March Meeting

Report by PVK

6.1.2

ESC Insurance:

ESC’s insurer has withdrawn its support and all people, who have a policy with that company, are asked to contact the insurer to ensure adequate cover.

Worldwide Ski & Snowboarding Insurance would be an alternative. Tel.: 0114 279 7300

6.1.3

Equal Opportunity Policy:

The ESC is signing up to the Equal Opportunity Policy. By next year, all Clubs affiliated to the English Ski Council have to agree to that policy. JA will circulate all papers he has received related to that policy. The Committee will have to look at the Constitution and if necessary, an amendment will have to be made.

JA

6.1.4

At the ESC Council meeting it was also mentioned that in about 3 year’s time the Government might change the Regions.

6.1.5

Harlow closure

JA reported that he had not had a response form Harlow Town Council.

6.1.6

ESC AGM, Sunday 11 May 2002, 11 a.m.:

To be held at the ESC Office in Halesowen. All nominations for Directors, Head of Key Committees and any resolution must be received by the ESC Office in writing not later than by 17.00h on Friday 5 April 2002.

The agenda for the AGM and other papers for the meeting will be mailed to all Clubs by 11 April 2002 by the ESC office. JA reminded all Clubs to either send a representative to the AGM or to make sure, that the Club votes are given to an ERSA person who will be going to the ESC AGM. Clubs have to inform the ESC office to whom they are giving the vote. Please liaise with JA.
