CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
In the absence of the Chairman, Alan Humphrey, Vice Chairman opened the meeting.
The minutes of the last AGM were never produced.
AH reported that very little happened within the ERSA Committee in the past 12 months; in fact, there has only been one meeting towards the end of the year called by AH as an emergency meeting to try to deal with any pending issues. (Minutes of this meeting have been circulated.)
If anybody in the Region wants to get more information about ERSA as well as wants to get the minutes of all the meetings this could be arranged via e-mail. Please let us have your e-mail address (email swlambert@msn.com) and all information will be sent to you. At the same time, most of the information can be seen on ERSA’s web site (ERSA), which is updated and maintained on a regular basis by Steven Lambert.
RACE MANAGER’S REPORT
A written report by Piet van Kempen, Chairman of the Racing Panel, is attached.
RACE TRAINER’S REPORT
A written report of Phil Brown, the Regional Race Trainer, is attached.
In addition to the written report PB mentioned that due to the amount of racers now reaching the necessary seed points to be able to become a member of the regional squad (100 seed points), the Racing Panel will have to consider to change the entry criteria, i.e. change the minimum seed points requirement.
COACHING REPORT
Ros Humphrey, co-ordinator of the Coaching Panel, reported that all people within the Region whose e-mail addresses are know to her were contacted about the forthcoming Course Setters Course on 8 October 2000, at Welwyn Ski Centre and the 1 day Race Officials Workshop to be held on 5 November 2000 at Hemel. At the same time, the information was put on ERSA’s web site and additional written copies have been handed out at the AGM.
John Williams asked for an additional Race Officials course to be held on 19 November 2000 at Norfolk Ski Centre. RH promised to look into this and report back the JW if the Snowsport England TD would be available for that date. (In the meantime, this course is now confirmed.)
RH asked all Clubs to submit bookings for courses ASAP.
AH explained that the Course Setters Course is open not only to Course Setters but also to all parents coaches, instructors and helpers. The course will help parents understand how slalom courses are set, the different combinations will be explained, new ideas discussed, etc and will give a clearer idea of what courses are about and how they are set. Trainers wishing to set for ERSA Summer League Races need to have completed this course. (Phil Brown will now take this course.)
If there is enough interest, a special Course Setters Course could be arranged for the young racers. Anybody interested should contact RH.
Prepared accounts were circulated. All people present accepted the accounts.

The following people were elected onto the ERSA Committee:

VICE CHAIRMAN | Alan Humphrey | Hemel/Snow Club |
TREASURER | Hilary Whipp | Bassingbourn |
SECRETARY | Ros Humphrey | Hemel/Snow Club |
RACE TRAINER | Phil Brown | Welwyn/Snow Club |

COACHING PANEL | Ros Humphrey | Hemel/Snow Club |
AOB
AH reported that Harlow Ski Centre is now closed. Beckton Alps is also planned to close soon. The site is earmarked for a Snow Slope.
With this in mind, AH asked the Racing Panel to find out from the representatives of the various Clubs if it is felt necessary to hold maybe 1 or 2 extra Summer League races for next summer at one or two slopes. However, having the overall race calendar in mind, it may not be necessary as there are now so many races available nationwide.
PB was asked to have Regional Sweatshirts available for next year.
SL asked the floor how they felt about the Snowsport England rule on wearing race helmets. AH asked all people present to find out the feeling within their Clubs and report back to the next ERSA Committee meeting. A decision can then be made on the rule for wearing racing helmets at all ERSA organised races, for either all racers or Junior 1 and below or Children only.
The meeting closed and the Summer League Race continued.
